WebGabapentin is a prescription medication known as a gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) analogue. GABA reduces the excitability of nerve cells (neurons) in the brain, which play a role in seizures and the transmission of pain signals. Gabapentin mirrors the effects of GABA calming excited neurons. WebGabapentin is most commonly used by veterinarians to treat pain associated with neurological diseases such as intervertebral disc disease which is a dangerous condition that causes back pain in dogs. This medication can also be used along with other seizure medications to help decrease seizure frequency.
